Bio

I write warm, witty, feelgood fiction inspired by life in the English village where I live with my husband and daughter.

My new Sophie Sayers Village Mystery series will launch in April 2017 with “Best Murder in Show”, the first in a cycle of cosy mystery novels that will run the course of a village year.

I also love writing short stories, and I publish a new themed collection each year, plus standalone singles. My stories feature in many anthologies, and I've been invited to read them at many events, including the Cheltenham Literature Festival..

If you’d like to know when I’m about to publish a new book, why not join my free Readers’ Club? You'll find details on my author website: www.authordebbieyoung.com. You'll receive a free story download as a welcome gift, and another free story with every enewsletter.

When I’m not writing fiction, I do other bookish things. I direct the free Hawkesbury Upton Literature Festival. I run two writers’ groups, manage the Author Advice Centre blog for the Alliance of Independent Authors, and review literary fiction for Vine Leaves Literary Journal. I write monthly columns for two local magazines and have also written various non-fiction books. I'm a regular guest on BBC Radio Gloucestershire's Book Club. I am an ambassador for the British children's reading charity Readathon and for the Type 1 diabetes research charity JDRF.

I am never bored, but I am sometimes a little tired…
