Bio

Karen was born in England and her family then moved to Hong Kong when she was very small. She had the opportunity to travel extensively while growing up and visited a lot of Asia, Australasia and Europe. The experience of a lot of different cultures and languages lead Karen to study everything she could find about how people's minds work, why they do what they do and how we communicate.

After university Karen went into software development, however, in less than 3 years she decided corporate life was not for her and launched her own consultancy business in London.

A few years later, Karen went back to college to retrain as a chiropractor and ran a thriving practice until her and her husband Steve upped and moved to the USA in 2006. Since then they've been helping authors, from first time writers to an established, 5 times, New York Times bestselling author.

Karen is now the co-founder of Bookthority, the "author tech and reader engagement" specialists. While Steve focuses on author platform-building services, including websites, memberships and mobile apps, Karen focuses more on the psychological side of an author's business helping them with reader engagement and branding.

She is the co-author of “47 Mind Hacks for Writers” and the host of The Book Marketing Summit.
