The Magicians' Chorus
I wrote this middle grade novel over ten years ago. It's the first book I ever wrote, and the quality of the writing shows it, but I love the premise. For spellsingers, kids with secret magical abilities, music is magic. To sing or to play is to cast a spell. When 13-year-old Cadence, realizes a mean girl is using magic to steal popularity and good looks from other kids to make herself look better, she's desperate to stop her. She teams up with unpopular, weird, Horace, but they soon realize that there is an even more dangerous and evil magician at work in the school. One really neat thing about this book is that I have the musical scores for the spells they sing and plan to include them. They're beginning level, playable by middle school aged musicians.
