The prologue to Last Gasp by Robert F Barker is an interplay between routine surveillance and the stress of operations not going to plan. The prologue also sets-off the tone of the novel and introduces Barker as a skilled writer. The characters remain nameless. The reader is an observer just as the police squad is voyeurs to a liaison between a client and a dominatrix. When things go un-expected, pressure mounts. The book launches finding DCI Carver, the somewhat preoccupied detective, at the gates of a mansion in what promises to be a most intriguing read.
Wow, the Last Gasp by Robert Parker left me wanting more. This novel has great characters, good pacing and a super plot. I hope to see<br /> more by this author!
